PORTLAND, MAINE -  Frederick (Rick) Finberg, a shareholder with The Bennett Law Firm, P.A., was recently chosen to receive the distinguished Aronson Young Leadership Award by the Jewish Federation of Southern Maine. 

According to Linda Abromson, who with her husband Joel provided an endowment grant to fund the award in 1983, Rick was chosen because of the work he has done in the Jewish community as well as the general community. He is the kind of person who follows through and delivers. You can count on him. 

The award winner must be between the ages of 25 and 40, and have demonstrated the potential for, and/or qualities of leadership exemplified by Richard Aronson, longtime leader in the Jewish 
community. 

Finberg is a former member of the Temple Beth El board of directors, and currently serves as first vice president of the Jewish Community Center. He is a board member of the Jewish Federation, President of the Portland Public Library Board of Trustees, and board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Portland.  He also serves as a trustee of the Norman M. Finberg USY Scholarship Fund, which since 1973 has helped high school students who wish to further their education through travel to Israel. 

A Portland native, Finberg graduated from Brandeis University and Boston University School of  Law, then returned to Portland to practice law.  As an Aronson award recipient, Finberg is invited to attend the meetings of the General Assembly of the Council of Jewish Federations, to be held this November in Israel. The award will be presented at the Federations Annual Meeting on May 28th at the Jewish Community Center.
