PORTLAND ATTORNEY CO-AUTHORS ARTICLE  PUBLISHED IN ABA TORT AND INSURANCE JOURNAL

PORTLAND, MAINE -  Peter Bennett, attorney and managing partner of The Bennett Law Firm, P.A. based in Portland, recently co-authored an article for the Tort and Insurance Law Journal published by the American Bar Association. The article, entitled "Defamation Claims Arising Out of the Employment Relationship," was published in the spring issue of the quarterly publication. The article dealt with defamation issues in a variety of settings ranging from sexual harassment cases to employer reference statements and termination claims. 

The Tort and Insurance Journal is highly regarded for original articles, book reviews, comments and case notes dealing with current and emerging issues of national scope in the  fields of tort and insurance law.  The Journal is circulated to all members of the ABA's Tort and Insurance Section and also on a  subscription basis. 
 
Peter Bennett graduated from Harvard University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1985, he received his law degree and Masters in Business Administration from the Boston University School of Law. Bennett is a faculty member of the University of Southern Maine Department of Continuing Education for Business. He is a member of several professional and community organizations, including Maine State and American Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute, the State Bar of Texas and the Maine Trial Lawyer's Association. 
 
He has authored several articles and legal reviews and is a contributing author to the 1998 edition of Guide to Equal Employment Practices.
