PETER BENNETT OF PORTLAND, MAINE HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS THE CHAIR ELECT OF THE MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE OF THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION'S TORT AND INSURANCE PRACTICE SECTION 

PORTLAND, MAINE - Peter Bennett has been appointed as the Chair of the Membership Committee of the American Bar Association's Tort and Insurance Practice Section. 

Peter Bennett is President of The Bennett Law Firm, P.A., a Portland, Maine law firm which specializes in representing management on issues of labor and employment law throughout New England.  Bennett is also the past-Chair of the Employer/Employee Relations Committee of the American Bar Association's Tort and Insurance Practice Section. 

Bennett received an A.B. degree cum laude in Economics from Harvard College as well as J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Boston University, where he was an Edward F. Hennessey Distinguished Scholar. 

In his role as Chair, Bennett will be responsible for increasing the organization's membership and in designing programs to enhance member benefits. These efforts will include efforts to involve practicing attorneys and law students with an emphasis on the inclusion of female and minority attorneys. He has served in a number of leadership roles since 1992. 

The Tort and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) of the American Bar Association has more than 30,000 members and 37 committees, representing all aspects of domestic and international tort and insurance law issues.  TIPS is the only national organization for lawyers representing the plaintiff's bar, defense bar, and corporate and insurance counsel.
