PETER BENNETT ELECTED PRESIDENT OF BU LAW SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

Boston, Mass. - Peter Bennett, Esq., has been elected president of the Boston University School of Law Alumni Association effective July 1. Bennett, a 1985 graduate of the School of Law, succeeds Martin P. Desmery, Esq., as president.

Bennett will assist Ronald Cass, dean of the School of Law, in advancing the reputation of the school on behalf of its 18,000 alumni and in a capital campaign to build a new state of the art law school building. Bennett is president of The Bennett Law Firm, P.A., in Portland, Maine, where he specializes in representing management on issues of labor law, employment relations law, and litigation throughout the Northeast.

Bennett received his A.B. degree cum laude in economics from Harvard University where he was a John Harvard Scholar. He earned his J.D. from the School of Law in 1985 where he received the Edward F. Hennessey Distinguished Scholar Award and his M.B.A. from the Boston University School of Management in 1986. Bennett is a member of the American and Maine Bar Associations, the Board of the American Bar Association's Civil Trial and Insurance Practice Section, and vice president and director of the International Society of Primerus Law Firms. Prior to becoming Alumni Association president, he served on the Association's Executive Committee as the assistant treasurer and vice president.

Bennett lives in Cumberland Foreside, Maine with his wife, Sandy, and their child, Haley.
