ARRANGEMENTS CHAIR FOR AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION’S TORT TRIAL AND
INSURANCE PRACTICE SECTION FALL LEADERSHIP MEETING IN MAINE FROM
OCTOBER 6 TO 10, 2004
ROCKPORT, MAINE -- Portland attorney, Peter Bennett, President of
The Bennett Law Firm, P.A., is the Fall Meeting Arrangements Chair
of the Fall Leadership Meeting being held by the American Bar Association’s
Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section from October 6 to 10 at
the Samoset in Rockport, Maine. This meeting, which will include
approximately two hundred attorneys from across the United States,
will be the largest meeting of its kind ever held in Maine by an
American Bar Association entity. During this meeting, the group
will be presenting its Pursuit of Justice Award to Portland Attorney
Daniel G. Lilley on October 8 at 5:30 p.m. In addition, the group's
Task Force on the Contingent Fee and Task Force on Asbestos will
be meeting. These task forces include the country’s leading authorities
on their subject matters and have been established to analyze and
report on issues of growing national concern and debate.
The Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association
is the only national bar association dedicated to the balanced representation
of plaintiff’s attorneys, defense attorneys, insurance and corporate
counsel. The Trial and Insurance Practice Section has over 35,000
members and is actively involved in legal education and initiatives
to improve public access to equal justice. The Trial Section is
also one of the American Bar Association’s oldest and largest sections.
Bennett is very active in the Association’s activities having just
finished a three year term on the Section’s Board and speaking on
Association national legal education programs approximately twenty
times in the past twelve years.
Bennett is President of The Bennett Law Firm, a Portland, Maine
firm which specializes in representing management throughout the
Northeast on matters of labor and employment law. He has written
and lectured extensively on employment law issues, and was the lead
defense counsel in several ground breaking cases dealing with employee
disability triggered misconduct. He is also a Vice President and
Director of the International Society of Primerus Law Firms and
Immediate Past President of the Boston University School of Law
Alumni Association.
