Portland, ME (PRWEB) August 13, 2013 ‐‐American Bar Association (ABA) President James Silkenat has recently reappointed Peter Bennett, President of The Bennett Law Firm in Portland, ME, as chair of the Association’s Standing Committee on Judicial Independence for a third one year term. The ABA’s Standing Committee on Judicial Independence was established in 1997. The purpose of the Committee is to promote awareness of the values of an independent, accountable and efficient judiciary and to assist bar associations in responding to unwarranted criticism of judges. The Standing Committee on Judicial Independence serves as the ABA’s clearinghouse of information on judicial independence and judicial selection in state, local and administrative judiciary.
